R.D. Foster

R.D. Foster writes dark fantasy for people who like their characters broken, their towns haunted, and their villains just a little too charming. Foster’s books combine supernatural lore, slow-burn tension, and morally gray chaos with enough emotional damage to make your favorite comfort character nervous. When not writing, Foster is probably researching obscure folklore, emotionally overthinking fictional dialogue, or wondering if dragons can hold grudges (spoiler: they can). Dragons of Blackmoor is the first step into a world where blood is power, memory is dangerous, and the monsters aren’t always who you expect.

Praise

People start disappearing when Mel arrives at Blackmoor and Xylar Throne seems to be related to those. What she is not expecting is that her lastname, Moor, and her coming back to the town may have a part in the recent events.

This book has made me go back to 2012, like Twilight and The Vampire Diaries with a bit of dragon vibes, and I ate it up like crazy, not gonna lie. Maybe this was precisely what I loved about it, it was like coming back to old friends. The romance and the mystery, bad characters that may not be so bad, the fast pacing, the old classic dangerous and cold guy at the end of the class… I didn't realise I've missed this kind of writing so much.

If you are looking for the most original book ever, this may not be your cup of tea (although I have to add that there is some really interesing points and twists that helps to differentiate this book from the others), but this story grabbed my attention from the first page and made the hours flow by, and that is all I look for on a book.

The only bad thing is that I will have to wait to read the second one 🫠 There are too many mysteries and unknowns, I need answers!

Okay… I am completely hooked. 🖤

This book is supernatural romance at its finest—darkly mysterious, dripping with suspense, and absolutely brimming with will-they-won’t-they tension that had me on edge the entire time. Dragons of Blackmoor is the first in what promises to be an epic series, and I already know I’m in for the long haul.

Melissa, our FMC, is captivating—carrying the weight of a past she’s only beginning to uncover. The mystery surrounding her family is layered and compelling, and as the secrets begin to unravel, so does everything she thought she knew about herself.

Enter Xylar. Enigmatic. Powerful. Surrounded by secrets of his own. The pull between him and Melissa is magnetic—there’s danger, desire, and a sense of fate weaving them together. Every interaction crackles with tension, and their dynamic is the kind of slow-burn, are they going to kiss or kill each other vibe that I live for.

The storytelling? Suspenseful and immersive. R.D. Foster crafts a world full of shadows, secrets, and supernatural stakes that kept me completely captivated.

✨ 4/5 stars from me! ✨

If you're into dragons, vampires, family mysteries, and intense romantic tension—you need this on your shelf.

Absolutely must read this series. I was so happy to read this first one and then I got the second one and phew. It was wonderful. It was full of wonder and drama, and angst and love and just everything I look for in a good book. I needdd more. So much.
