People start disappearing when Mel arrives at Blackmoor and Xylar Throne seems to be related to those. What she is not expecting is that her lastname, Moor, and her coming back to the town may have a part in the recent events.
This book has made me go back to 2012, like Twilight and The Vampire Diaries with a bit of dragon vibes, and I ate it up like crazy, not gonna lie. Maybe this was precisely what I loved about it, it was like coming back to old friends. The romance and the mystery, bad characters that may not be so bad, the fast pacing, the old classic dangerous and cold guy at the end of the class… I didn't realise I've missed this kind of writing so much.
If you are looking for the most original book ever, this may not be your cup of tea (although I have to add that there is some really interesing points and twists that helps to differentiate this book from the others), but this story grabbed my attention from the first page and made the hours flow by, and that is all I look for on a book.
The only bad thing is that I will have to wait to read the second one đź« There are too many mysteries and unknowns, I need answers!
Okay… I am completely hooked. 🖤
This book is supernatural romance at its finest—darkly mysterious, dripping with suspense, and absolutely brimming with will-they-won’t-they tension that had me on edge the entire time. Dragons of Blackmoor is the first in what promises to be an epic series, and I already know I’m in for the long haul.
Melissa, our FMC, is captivating—carrying the weight of a past she’s only beginning to uncover. The mystery surrounding her family is layered and compelling, and as the secrets begin to unravel, so does everything she thought she knew about herself.
Enter Xylar. Enigmatic. Powerful. Surrounded by secrets of his own. The pull between him and Melissa is magnetic—there’s danger, desire, and a sense of fate weaving them together. Every interaction crackles with tension, and their dynamic is the kind of slow-burn, are they going to kiss or kill each other vibe that I live for.
The storytelling? Suspenseful and immersive. R.D. Foster crafts a world full of shadows, secrets, and supernatural stakes that kept me completely captivated.
✨ 4/5 stars from me! ✨
If you're into dragons, vampires, family mysteries, and intense romantic tension—you need this on your shelf.
Absolutely must read this series. I was so happy to read this first one and then I got the second one and phew. It was wonderful. It was full of wonder and drama, and angst and love and just everything I look for in a good book. I needdd more. So much.
This book didn’t just break me—it unmade me.
R.D. Foster drags you deeper into Blackmoor’s cursed legacy with a story that’s equal parts haunting and seductive. The tension? Off the charts. The magic? Wild and unforgiving. The romance? Twisted, aching, and damn near lethal.
Melissa is unraveling secrets that could burn the world down, while Xylar—gods help me—is the type of monster you’d still crawl back to in the dark. And that ending? Cliffhangers should be illegal at that level of emotional damage.
This series owns me now. And I’m not even mad.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this series so far. The Bloodwrought Cycle series has been one of my favorites I've read so far this year. Like the first book I binged, I read Whispers from the Hollow in one day. The fantastic thing about this series is that the story is interesting and gripping, and the characters are realistic and strong. The MFC is the perfect combination of independent while also realistically falling in love. She is not a "pick me" girl, nor does she melt into a puddle in the presence of the MMC; she is a well-rounded and realistic character. The MMC is everything you want a brooding and protective character to be. As the story progresses, you get to know the other characters more as we are introduced to their POV. Although the book is listed as a cliffhanger, the book ended organically, leading to the next book. It's not a sudden end, but it does leave strings for us to follow in the future. I'm excited to see what's coming next!
So many secrets. Gripping, twisty and engaging. This powerful dark and layered thriller kept me engaged from beginning to end. There are a variety of complex characters that I found to love or hate. As this series continues with each book there is more depth and growth of the characters. There is so much going on underneath that I found myself trying, and probably failing, to figure out who is loyal to who and who the real traitors are. The twisting plot kept adding to the mix as the catastrophic challenges keep coming. Trying to save the town, it seems, is not so simple and may have costly consequences. Loved the writing and the cleverly and constantly evolving plot. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
This is the 3rd installment of the Dragons of Blackmoor series, and it’s been an amazing series!!! I will read anything this author writes, hands down!! I received this as an Arc read and I am voluntarily leaving this review The character development is absolutely amazing! The story kept me on my toes, never really figuring things out until the end, which I love when an author can do that because I am pretty good at predicting the outcome of a book. So big kudos for keeping me surprised!!! Cannot
wait for book 4!!
Reading Dragons of Blackmoor felt like slipping into a foggy dream, moody, mysterious, and quietly intense. The atmosphere in this book is one of its biggest strengths. The town of Blackmoor has such a vivid, haunting presence that it almost becomes a character of its own. I was especially drawn in by the emotional weight of the story. Themes like grief, identity, and legacy are explored with care, and the characters face them in ways that feel real and relatable.
The romance in this book builds slowly, but that made it even more rewarding. There is real chemistry between the main characters, and the tension between them felt natural and sincere. I liked that the story focused more on emotion and character growth than nonstop action. It gave the story depth and made me feel more connected to the people in it.
There were a few moments where the pacing slowed down more than I would have liked, and sometimes I found myself wanting a bit more clarity in the main character's choices. But those were minor things in an otherwise immersive experience.
If you enjoy emotional, character driven fantasy with mystery, romance, and hidden magic, this book is a strong pick. It gave me the same feeling I had reading early paranormal stories cozy, intense, and hard to put down.
